VH-RPX Cessna
U206A Super Skywagon
(c/n U206-0473)
The above photo, from the
Geoff Goodall collection, was taken at Jandakot, Perth in May 1977.
The aircraft was owned by
Broome Air Charter at the time, although is carrying titling
indicating
'Wards Refrigeration -
Air Conditioning - Broome' was the operator. Ex N8073Z,
this
aircraft
was
first registered to Air Oasis Pty Ltd of Adelaide in
February 1966. Oddly, there was a large
Cessna
dealership at Long Beach (California) Municipal Airport by that name
in the late
1950s and
1960s. Possibly the Adelaide company was a division of this
outfit? Anyway, within weeks of
arrival in Australia -RPX was on-sold to Elcho Island Methodist
Mission in NT. It then had various
owners in WA and SA and
in November 1977 it was acquired (briefly) by Trans West Air Charter
who soon sold it to G. R.
Ladyman of remote Tom Price, WA (Kanijini National Park).
John
Wheatley's shot below was taken somewhat earlier, circa 1970.
The script titling on the fuselage
reads 'Derek Knight'.
(The legend beneath is in such a stylized art-deco font that I
cannot read
it).
On 29 January 1985 -RPX was destroyed in a storm and
stricken from the register that same day.
