VH-WTM de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA381)
Like many Tigers, this one has a long list of
previous identities. Civilianized from A17-346 in July
of 1947 it was first
registered VH-BCV, although was withdrawn from use in October of that
year.
It
then languished somewhere until 1955 when, after a complete overhaul,
it emerged as VH-AZG
the
second. (The first -AZG, also a Tiger, was written off in
November 1947). It was re-registered
VH-RGK in 1960 and again in 1966 as VH-WTM for
W.T. Moore of Churchill, Queensland. The
image above, by
Ian Thompson (via the Geoff Goodall collection) was taken at
Archerfield in Dec-
ember
1966 just after its last identity had been granted. It is
still current and registered to a private
owner in NSW.
