VH-TVJ Vicker 756
Viscount
"John
Forrst"
(c/n 149)
Chris Finney took
many photographs in the Adelaide area in the 1960s and the above shot
is one of them, showing the third
model 756 delivered in the livery adopted by TAA after they
had received
their first pure jets. This aircraft was one with the long
range slip tanks fitted,
enabling the Viscount to operate
the Perth-Adelaide-Melbourne route. This aircraft was with-
drawn from use at Eagle Farm Airport,
Brisbane in 1970 although the nose of it was preserved
and resides today in the in Queensland
Air Museum in Caloundra. Here is a Peter Gates' shot
of it in 1994. Presumably restoration
to the nose has been done since then.
