VH-TUT Piper PA-28R-180 Cherokee
Arrow
(c/n 28R-30765)
This retractable gear Cherokee was registered in August 1969 to a
grazier from Yeppoon in
Queensland. David Carter photographed it basking in the
sun at Mascot in 1970. By 1976
–TUT was
flying with the Namoi Aero Club out of Narrabri. It was
in the West in the late
1980s, being
twice reported for heavy landings. The first was a
mystery, only discovered
by a
conscientious cleaner who spotted the damaged undercarriage in October
1988. The
offending pilot was never discovered. On May 15, 1990 it
landed heavily at Jandakot but
this
time the incident was reported. –TUT remained current in
November 2016 and based
at
Geraldton.
