VH-TSD (1) de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger
Moth
(c/n DHA325)
The above shot, from the Geoff
Goodall collection, is the only image gleaned of the this Tiger
bearing the first VH-TSD rego. The photo was taken at Parafield
in 1965 when a storage hut
was being cleared out.
Ex A17-306, this Tiger was one of a large number of Tiger Moths sold
by the
Commonwealth Disposals Commission at Western Junction, Launceston after
the war
and
ferried in ragged formations to the mainland. However c/n
325 Tiger remained in Tasmania
to be registered VH-APK with the Tasmanian Aero Club
in October 1950. It later became
VH-SSM
with Super Spread Aviation
at Moorabbin before being purchased by Roger Freeman
of Adelaide in January 1959 when he started Trojan Aerial Spraying Co.
It was cancelled from
the register in October 1961 as
'withdrawn from service'.
