VH-TLW Piper PA-24-180
Comanche
(c/n 24-615)
VH-TLW was an early Comanche 180 flying
for South Australian Air Taxis Ltd. Geoff Goodall's
shot (above) was taken at Adelaide Airport in May 1962. The
company used the VH-TL block
in
recognition of its founders from the Treloar family who had owned
aircraft in SA and Broken Hill
area dating back to the 1920s. When taken over by
Nicholas Air Charter of Moorabbin, the regis-
trations were
changed to the VH-RC series for NAC's entreprenueurial manager Richard
Cavill, who
began a
steady expansion, taking over other charter operators.
VH-TLW was sold on 14 August
1962 to Mrs.H.
E. Edgar, of "Metro" Station, Springsure Qld and re-registered
that same day as
VH-TEW,
before going
on to a variety of owners.
