VH-TJJ Douglas DC-9-32
(c/n 47007)
The above shot,
from the CAHS archives shows -TJJ at Sydney probably just after having
been
delivered. Certainly it is in the original livery. In
the image immediately below, from the Macarthur
Job
collection, this scheme had been revised and 'modernized'.
. -TJJ was the first of the
original
order
for three
DC-9s placed in April 1965. A dozen DC-9s would eventually be
taken on board
by the
carrier. This, the first, named 'Edmund Kennedy' was delivered
(March 1967) almost
exactly two years after it was ordered. It flew with TAA
(and later Australian Airlines) for twenty
years, being sold to Midway
Airlines
as
N938ML early in 1987. Fergal Goodman saw it (foot of
page) at Tampa
International in October of that year after it had just joined its
second owner. In
1992
it went to ASERCA
as YV714C and wound up derelict at Caracas
International Airport in the
mid
2000s.
