VH-TFD
Fokker F.27
'William
Landsborough'
c/n 10114
First TAA service flown on 28 May 1959.
Greg Banfield saw it somewhat later (above) at
Mascot in
October 1964 by which time the livery had gone through a couple of
minor changes,
including "TAA -
The Nation's Jetline" titling on the under fuselage. Bob Neate's
shot (immed-
iately below)
shows it at Essendon in 1961 with its original dayglo orange tail
scheme. -TFD
flew with TAA
until its withdrawal from active duty in October
1980. It later was to see service
with Pilgrim
Airlines of New London/Groton, Connecticut. My good friend,
and
invaluable
contributor to my US Airline section, Bob
Garrard, took a shot of it on short finals into Ronald
Reagan
(National) Airport,
Washington, D.C. in
June 1983 (foot of page) in full Pilgrim livery.
When Pilgrim was
bought out
by Business
Express, it was absorbed into their fleet. It was later
leased to
Taymi, SA in Peru as
OB-1644 in 1996, and
ostensibly sold from there to Air Dabia
in The
Gambia. In the event I
don't think that
company ever "got off the ground" and c/n 10114
was last
listed as
being stored at Banjul
Airport. .
