VH-SSP de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n 82259)
As its registration
suggests, VH-SSP was an ex Super Spread Pty Ltd machine which was sold
to
Launceston, Tasmania based Air Mist in the early 1960s. It
is seen above at Moorabbin in October
1961 parked by those
wonderful old pine trees that used to line the western boundary of the
airfield.
Progress, of course,
wiped them out years ago. -SSP was a UK built machine and was
originally with
the RAF as N9140
before being shipped to the RAAF at the outbreak of WW II. It was
civilianized
in 1948 as
VH-BND. It survived agricultural service to be rebuilt as
privately owned VH-ABL.

the field
in 1961, looking very
tired.
