VH-SNR de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA221/T314)
This Tiger, which was, until recently (at least into 2006)
still on the register, was the former A17-220.
It was civilianized in 1946 as VH-AZC,
becoming VH-BOO following a restoration in 1953. After
another period of lapsed
registration it became VH-SNR in 1959 and remained that way ever since.
Of the three Geoff Goodall's
shots on this pag, the top one was at Cairns in March 1984 and the
lower ones at Ingham,
Qld in August 1974. Photo no 3 is an evocative image taken "into
the sunset"
during the annual sugar cane
burn off. VH-SNK has recently shed its civil rego in
favor of A17-220
on the
fuselage, but with no other 'war bird' embellishment, as seen in Ian
McDonell's photo (foot of
the page) taken at a
Fly-In at Toowoomba in May 2009.
