VH-SLS Cessna 180 Skywagon
(c/n 31680)
Well, that's certainly an attractive paint job. Not
standard Cessna, but very nice nevertheless,
and certainly an
improvement over the livery it wore when it was a contestant in the
1964
Ansett Air Race, as
seen in the image below, by Greg Banfield at Bankstown on 29 March
1964. This 180
was an ex Netherlands East Indies (New Guinea)
missionary aircraft formerly
JZ-PTC. It
came onto the Australia register in 1961 as the first
VH-BVI for the Sepik District
Labour Services in Wewak,
on
the Australian controlled side of the large island. Eighteen
months
later (in July 1962) it
moved
south and was re-registered VH-SLS. Geoff Goodall's shot (above)
was taken at Parafield in
October 1967 when the aircraft was operated by the Keith Aero Club
