VH-RNI (2) de Havilland D.H.82A
Tiger
Moth
(c/n DHA108/T35)
A17-111 was civilianized in July 1951 as
VH-ALH. It became VH-RNI upon
joining the Royal
Newcastle Aero Club
in 1966, and is still owned by them. Barry Maclean's shot above
was taken
at Richmond, NSW in
October 1991, whilst that below is much earlier, and was shot by John
Clark at
the 1968 Aviation Expo at the RNAC, following the rebuild after its
re-registration from
VH-ALH.
Incidentally, this aircraft* can I believe, be chartered for a mere
A$330.00 an
hour.
At the foot of the page is an interim time photo by
Greg Banfield of -RNI at Maitland, NSW in
October 1974.
Titling on the fuselage says "Royal Newcastle Aero Club"
* John, who sent the shot immediately below,
was
instrumental in the early days of Luskintyre
Aviation, the Tiger Moth rebuild enterprise, and advises that -RNI
crashed at Taree
in 1970
and the existing
machine
contains parts (evidently enough to retain the c/n) of the original
aircraft.
