VH-RJJ (1) Cessna 210A
(c/n 57679)
VH-RJJ
was first registered on 2 Nov 1961 to a Sydney company but operated by
Daag Johnson,
an American opal miner at the northern SA opal fields at
Andamooka. The 210A was the first of
the 210 model with the third
cabin window. Johnson named his 210A "Butch",. and ownership
was officially transferred to him
in February 1964. It was a regular visitor
to Adelaide Airport where
Geoff
Goodall's two shots (above and below) were taken. The upper one
was
in October 1962
while
the lower, a year earlier in November 1962. The Cunard Eagle
DC-6B in background of
the
latter shot was G-ARZO.
At the foot of the page is a
shot taken by Greg Banfield at Bankstown
on 9 July 1963
over the bonnet of a Holden (or can anyone positively identify the
car?) Greg advises
that the aircraft was finished in
an off-white, blue and dark gray motif. Daag traded the 210A in
to
Piper agents Ansett
General Aviation at Bankstown on a new PA-30 Twin Comanche in
June 1966.
The 210A was the re-registered
VH-RJO to allow his new twin to become
VH-RJJ.
