VH-RBT (2)
Piper PA-30-160 Twin
Comanche
(c/n 30-476)
Formerly N7452Y, VH-RBT was
registered to Smith Air in July 1964. Mike Madden's shot
above shows it in original Piper
livery at Moorabbin in 1972. Over a decade later David Carter
took the photo below at Belmont,
Newcastle, in August 1985 now completely repainted. This
was following a repair of a partial undercarriage collapse at Coffs
Harbour on March 19 that
year. Missing components were to blame, as it was on September
14, 1996 when again at
Coffs Harbour. –RBT
suffered a partial undercarriage collapse. A year later,
on 9 September
at Lismore it was more undercarriage problems when it failed to
lock down and collapsed
on
landing.
Back in the air, –RBT had an accident at Lord Howe Island on September
30, 2000.
The nature
of this accident is not known but the aircraft was cancelled from the
register as a result.
