VH-PQL Cessna 172F
Skyhawk
(c/n 17253347)
Registered in November 1965, VH-PQL had been N5698R before being
shipped to
Australia for sale by Rex Aviation. On July 30, 1972 it stalled
on landing at Grovedale,
near Geelong, and ended on its back. After a
year undergoing repairs it returned to the
register with C and H Aviation, of Melbourne In
1976 it was with Richmond Aviation
at Ballina, NSW but when David Carter saw it in November 1980 it was
back down south
at
Essendon airport in a truly (in my opinion) horrible livery.
. –PQL was still current in
November 2016 and owned by an aircraft engineer from Victoria’s
Gippsland, who had
fully restored
it and painted it to resemble a late model Skyhawk. (Bless him!).
