VH-POL de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA181)
Here's a lovely shot by Geoff Goodall, taken in September
of 1968. This was the former
A17-180, civlianized
in 1946 as VH-BAA, and
becoming the first VH-BOA in 1949.
It suffered an accident at Darwin in 1953 but was salvaged
and rebuilt as VH-POL. It
certainly looked in fine
fettle, here at Camden, complete with Snoopy on the nose. I am
not sure of its fate, but
it was withdrawn from use in the 1980s. Greg Banfield's color shot
below was at the same venue and slightly earlier in February 1968
before the Skyservice
livery was painted on, although Snoopy
had already secured his position.
