VH-MPW (2) Cessna 180
(c/n 32636)
VH-MPW was one of half a dozen 180s entered into the 1964
Ansett Air Race. Greg Banfield
saw it (above)
looking very sharp at Bankstown on 29 March 1964. It was flown in
the race by
owner M.P. Willsallen
of 'Dunolly' Station via Harden, NSW, and was the second allocation of
this registration,
his first being the Aiglet Trainer. Geoff Goodall took the
hangar shot (immediately
below) at Parafield in the
early 1960s. At the foot of the page is yet another image
of this Cessna
by Bob Neate at
Cootamundra
in March 1962.
180s with spats always looked classic, although
were mud
gatherers.
As such, one never saw ag Cessnas with
spats. VH-MPW is still on the register.
