VH-MMR
Fokker F.27 Friendship 200
(c/n 10303)
This Friendship was originally ordered by Ansett-ANA
but was delivered to MacRobertson Miller
Airlines in July 1966. It is seen
above in this photo by Geoff Goodall at Perth in July 1968 wearing
its original attractive MMA
Jetstream color scheme, and named 'RMA
Robe'. Although Ansett
Transport Industries had
acquired a majority interest in MMA in 1963, it was not until 1969 that
the
airline was fully integrated into
the Ansett fold and the livery was changed. Geoff's shot (below)
shows
it, again at Perth, but in 1971,
now adorned in full Ansett style livery. Withdrawn from MMA
service
in 1971, it went to ATI
subsidiary Airlines of NSW. Greg Banfield's shot at the foot of
the page shows
it departing Mascot in May of
1977. It was
transferred to Ansett Airlines of South Australia soon after
this shot
was taken in 1977 and repainted into the so-called "Piping Shrike'
white, red, yellow and black
livery. At the foot of the
page is a nice color shot by Danny Tanner, taken at Birdsville, Qld in
September
1982 showing it in this Airlines
of South Australia scheme. . At
the end of its career (in 1986) it was
transferred back to main Ansett
Airlines service out of Melbourne. It flew
for another
two years with
the parent company before being withdrawn from service in
1988. It
was then stored at Tullamarine
for many years and finally reduced to
produce at Broadmeadows, Vic in
2002.
