VH-MMB (2) Douglas
DC-3CS1C3G (c/n

The above photograph
is from the Geoff Goodall collection. VH-MMB began life as a fairly late
model C-47B-45-DK, delivered to
the USAAF at the end of the war as 45-0965. It went to
the Royal New Zealand Air
Force in 1947 as NZ3557, and was civilianized for New Zealand
National Airways
Corporation as ZK-AOH that
same year. MacRobertson Miller Airlines
(as it was by then) purchased it
in 1962 as VH-MMO, but almost
immediately relegated it up
the hierarchy as
VH-MMB. It was sold in 1969 to Merpati
Nusanatara (Indonesia's second
airline, after Garuda) as
PK-NDG.
After a spell with Dirgantara Air Services as PK-VTM it
went to the
Indonesian Air Force as AF-4775, and was
finally retired as 'R1-001' .
It was withdrawn from service at
Jakarta Halim Airport in 2001.
