VH-MGT de Havilland D.H.104 Dove 1B
(c/n 04050)
This early production Dove was shipped to New
Zealand in 1948 and reassembled at the local
de
Havilland plant to become ZK-AQV.
It then passed to the Royal New Zealand Air Force
as
their first Devon, NZ1801. After a period of being in
storage, it was sold in 1970 to Australian
Helicopters' associate company Personnel Air Transport, to carry
workers to remote mining and
oil drilling
sites. The above shot was taken by Geoff Goodall at Bankstown in
November 1973.
Geoff saw it some years later
(December 1976) at Jandakot Airport, Perth, by which time it was
owned
by Amalgamated Air. It was withdrawn from use a couple of
years later and was on
display
in an Adelaide museum during the mid 1990s. It is
reported now to be in storage in
South
Australia.
