VH-MEG Piper PA-22-108 Colt
(c/n 22-9267)
VH-MEG was a PA-22 Colt 108 registered
new in October 1962 by Millard O'Sullivan Aviation,
Perth
for their Perth Flying School which was based at Perth Airport (the new
General Aviation
airport of Jandakot had not yet been
opened). On 4 July 1965 a student
pilot became lost in
deteriorating weather and overturned during a forced landing at
the 45 mile post on the Albany
Highway, south
of Perth. The pilot was not injured but the Colt was
written off. Its tailplane
survived at the Midland Technical School aviation annex near Perth
Airport as late as 1971.
