VH-MDV de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA468)
Two shots
(above and immediately below) of this rebuilt Tiger both taken at
Luskintyre Above,
in April
2003 by Glenn Anderton and below in September 2010 by Ian Mcdonell
. At the foot
of the page is
a photo from the Don McLeod collection of -MDV as it appeared at
Maryborough,
Qld in 1959.
The gentleman is Don's father who, at the time, was President of the
Wide Bay Aero
Club. The aircraft was
the former VH-GWB, and had been
badly damaged at Rockhampton in
1958. The
remains were taken to the Maryborough workshops of LAME Joe Vine.
Upon restor-
ation it was
re-registered VH-MDV being Joe's daughter's initials.
Don indicates that Joe had
rigged the aircraft
in
such a way so as to increase the cruise speed of the Tiger by almost 10
knots
(although the
stall speed
did increase a little).
