The four seat J5s were named
Autocrat in the U.K.and Adventurer in Australia. VH-KSK originally
went to
Gibbes Sepik Airways in New Guinea when new.
It returned to Australia in 1955 and had
a series
of
owners
until 1975 when its C of R was not renewed. It was
reactivated
again in 1982
and
purchased by Alan Parise at RAAF Point Cook in
1988 who completed its restoration The
above
photo is via the CAHS archives, and shows the aircraft in full Auster
factory livery. The shot
below, by Geoff Goodall was taken at Griffith, NSW in July, 1967.
More
recently the aircraft
appears to be
under yet another rebuild in North Queensland where it is owned by John
Innes, of
Bunya.
It is still
currently registered, but its airworthiness status is
unknown.
