VH-KCJ Auster J/1N Aiglet II
(c/n 3356)
Named Alpha in the UK, several
J/1Ns were imported into Australia in the late 1950s where they
were
known as Aiglet IIs. The nice Greg Banfield shot of -KCJ above
shows it in original livery
at an Aiglet at
Dubbo, NSW in February 1974. 'Dubbo Aero & Gliding Club'
reads the legend.
The Mike Vincent
photo below was taken a year later in Bathurst
in March 1975 by which time
the
aircraft had moved on to the Bathurst Soaring Club. It is
currently owned by
Doug Sprigg of
Arkaroola
Resort, South Australia, and finished in
an earlier Auster livery, as seen in Phil Vabre's
contemporary (albeit very close-up) shot taken at Broken Hill in
October 2009.
