VH-KCF  Auster J/5B Autocar                           (c/n  3196)

                             

                                    VH-KCF was built with the 130 hp de Havilland Gipsy Major 1 power plant up front at a
                                    time when most Autocars were leaving the Rearsby factory with 145 hp Major 10s as Model
                                    J/5Ps.   The above photo is from the David Eyre collection (via Geoff Goodall) and was taken
                                    at Bankstown in January 1967, and shows the Autocar with the name 'Betsy II'.   Greg Banfield
                                    saw it at the same locale at the end of that year (Dec 1967) in basically the same livery although
                                    sans the name (unless it was displayed on the starboard side only).  By July 1973 it was dressed
                                    in a much revised paint job as seen in the shot at the foot of the page by Greg at Bankstown in
                                    January 1972.   -KCF was withdrawn from use in July 1973.
