VH-JSG Auster J5G-180 Autocar
(c/n 3173)
This was the former VH-WWB (and VH-RAD before that) which
had come to grief in a crash at
Yallunda Flat in 1965. It lay dormant for several decades until
around 1990 when it completed a
marathon restoration
(reputed to cost some A$150,000 - and that didn't include the 180 h.p.
Lyco-
ming O-360 engine!).
Certainly very pretty now as seen in the contemporary (2008) shot by
Phil
Vabre above, although J5Gs without
a Blackburn Cirrus Major up front, don't "look quite right" to
me!.
