VH-ILM Beech 95-D55 Baron
(c/n TE-750)
Formerly N2326A, VH-ILM was registered in October
1969 . The 1976 register shows it with
Trans-West Air
Charter out of Jandakot. When David Carter saw it at Bathurst in
October 1981
it was with
Coconut Airways, believed to be based at Proserpine. It was on a
flight from Proserpine
to Brampton Island on
May 18, 1985, that –ILM was damaged when the gear collapsed on landing.
It was repaired
but was written off in an accident near Bankstown on March 3,
2000. The pilot had
decided to
divert to Bathurst after weather conditions prevented him reaching
Bankstown. As he
started
climbing back to cruise height both engines failed when the auxiliary
fuel tanks ran out of fuel.
The pilot was
seriously injured and –ILM extensively damaged in the forced landing.
