VH-IDT de
Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver
(c/n 1559)
Over twenty Beavers
were imported into Australia in the early 1960s primarily for
agricultural use
(top dressing, crop spaying etc.). Super Spread had their share
of them. This shot by Richard
Maclean, taken
at
Moorabbin in 1962 shows one with
a rather strange chemical distribution system
under
the port
wing. For some reason Leafair, Super Spread's parent later
repainted it in authentic
orange
and black DHC colors, as seen in the shot below by Greg Banfield taken
at Bankstown in
June
1976. VH-IDT crashed at Flowerdale,
Victoria on 11 February 1980, whilst still registered
to
Super Spread..
