VH-GVC Auster
J/5B
Autocar
(c/n 2922)
Formerly known as Goulburn Valley Air Services (hence the -GV rego),
Southern Airlines used the
little Autocar as an air taxi to
service the
rural areas of southern
Victoria. Its
chief clients were
farmers and
ranchers. It was imported by Kingsford Smith
Aviation Services (like all Austers were
in the 1950s) and first
registered VH-KAX. When Southern's
routes were
acquired by Ansett-ANA,
the assets were sold off and
-GVC became VH-ASZ.
It was
current into the 1980s but its final
disposition is not known.
