VH-FWX Beech 95-B55
baron
(c/n TC-1155)
Barons were quite popular in Australia. This one was
flown out as N7649N and registered
VH-FWX in November 1968
to a J.M. Simpson of Adelaide who was still the registered owner
in 1976.
When David Carter caught up with it at Bankstown in
January 1970 it had just com-
pleted the London to Sydney
air race as entry number 36 and named “Spirit
of Alice Springs”.
The tail was marked Elizabethan
Air Charter, a Parafield-based operator.
Elizabethan came
from the
nearby suburb of Elizabeth. –FWX was reregistered VH-IHZ in
October 2002 and
in September 2016 was being operated by Horizon
Airways out of Mackay.
