VH-EQM
Piper PA-30-160 Twin
Comanche

(c/n 30-1350)
VH-EQM was another of the aircraft flown in
the 1969 London-Sydney Air Race. Like
several others of its ilk, it stayed on and was reregistered in
Australia. David Carter saw
it (below) at Bankstown in January 1970 as
N8222Y and carrying the titling of its sponsor,
Central Western Aviation Service of Bourke. It was actually the
Piper dealer's (Ansett
General Aviation) demonstration aircraft.
Roland Zweck saw it (photo above) at Para-
field in September 1971 wearing the Ansett logo. It was sold to
Faetre Pty Ltd in the Sydney
area and was
probably based at Bankstown. It then had several other owners and
is today
it is
privately owned in Queensland.
