VH-EDM (2) Cessna
180A
Skywagon
(c/n 50012)
This 180 had had a long
succession of priors before becoming VH-EDM in April 1962.
Built as
N9714B it was re-registered
N347TC in the US before being exported to the UK as G-APYJ.
It then spent time in Eire from July 1960 to April 1961 as EI-ALO
before being restored back in
the UK. In January 1962 it left for Australia
although was not entered into the Australian civil
register until April of that year, as stated
above. It took part in the 1964 Ansett Air Race, and
Greg Banfield captured it (above) during the
overnight stop at Bankstown on 29 March 1964.
A month later it was
re-registered VH-KAI to make the rego -EDM available for a Cessna 210A
(which itself had previously been registered
VH-KAI).
