VH-EDG Piper PA-30
Twin
Comanche
(c/n 30-1823)
VH-EDG was ferried to Australia as N8679Y and
registered in August 1970. In 1975 David
Carter photographed it
at Bankstown in the markings of Goddard’s Air Service, of
Bathurst. On
the night of 16 April, 1996,
–EDG crashed at Charleville killing the pilot, who was the only
occupant.
He had lost control during a practice VOR approach.
Investigators were unable to determine why
but
did note that one engine was at reduced power on impact and the
pilot was inexperienced at
flying multi-engine aircraft
at night.
