VH-ECF Hawker Siddeley
HS.125.3B
(c/n 25069)
Sister
ship to VH-ECE this HS.125 was delivered in early July of
1966. Peter Hough saw it at
Essendon in 1968 (above), whilst Greg
Banfield's B&W photo below was taken at Mascot in
October1971. It won the Executive Jet Class Award in
the January 1970 BP
England-Australia
Air Race, completing the flight from
Gatwick to
Adelaide in 27 1/2 hours. It was used by Qantas
as a crew trainer until September 1972
after which it was sold to
MacAlpine Aviation at Luton
where
it became G-BAXI. It was later re-register G-BAXL and
then G-OBOB when acquired
by
Slender You (UK) Ltd. It was destroyed when it crashed into
a
field 5 miles east of Columbia
Regional Airport, Missouri whilst on a
flight from Crossville, TN to
Kansas City, Mo. Both engines
flamed out and it was suspected that
fuel contamination was the
probably cause, along with a
block-
age of the fuel filters due to
icing.
