VH-EBV (3) Boeing 707-338C
(c/n 19295)
When its duties with Qantas were
deemed over in February 1976 VH-EBV was overhauled by
HAECO in Hong Kong for possible sale to B.Cal. This sale
was not consummated and the air-
craft was stored
at Sydney in all white livery. Greg Banfield saw it
in that status at Mascot in
July
1976 (above). It was later repainted in full Qantas livery and
went on the serve the airline for
another six months or so until it was again withdrawn from service in
April 1977 and sold to
Zambian
Airways as 9J-AEL. In 1989 it went to Trans-Arabian
Air Transport as ST-ALP,
and then
was sold to Grumman Aerospace in June 1994 for J-STARS
conversion. It is currently
with the USAF as an E-8C (92-3290)
