VH-EBR DHA-3 Drover
1
(c/n 5005)
The shot above, from the Civil
Aviation Historical Society of South Australia collection and my
own below, courtesy of Qantas
Empire Airways, showing this Drover over the famous Sydney
Harbor Bridge could have been taken on the same sortie.
In the photo below note that 'The
Rocks'
redeveloped area had yet to be developed! The airline
ordered four of these indigenous
Australian machines
with which to operate their Aerial
Medical Services in North Queensland and
the Northern
Territory. This
task was later taken over by
Trans Australian Airlines and later still by
the Royal
Flying Doctor
Service itself. With the exception
of VH-EBQ which was lost
in New
Guinea, Qantas'
remaining Drovers were sold to Fiji
Airways in 1954/55. VH-EBR
became
VQ-FAO.
