VH-EBI
(2) Boeing
707-138B
(c/n 18068)
Just love the
cloud effect in this shot by Greg Banfield taken at Mascot in June
1964. -EBI flew
for Qantas for only seven
years, from August 1961 to September 1968. By that time the
services
were being taken over by
747s. It was sold to Braniff in June 1969 as
N105BN. Greg saw it
again later at Mascot on 27 June 1959 (below) whilst it was being
prepared for its sale to Braniff.
Where's the rego? Oh....there it is on the ventral
fin (see enlargement). It had many owners after
that
including identities of OE-IRA and SU-FAB. It was finally
returned to the Boeing Military
Airplane
Co in 1986 and was scrapped at Tucson, Arizona in 1991 when its parts
were used in
the
KC-135E
refurbishment program.
