VH-EBH  (3)   Boeing 707-138B                             (c/n  18067)

VH-EBH was the first of a new order for four aircraft placed in 1960.  As such it was the first
707 built to dash 138B standard on the production line.   Qantas took delivery in August 1961
.  Greg Banfield's shot above was taken at Mascot in September 1966.  It was withdrawn from
Qantas service in 1968 (could hardly have been 'run-in') and sold to British West Indian Airways
as 9Y-TDC.   It sustained serious damage during a nose-wheel-up landing at Toronto in March
1973.       Repaired, it remained with BWIA until 1977 and was then reported as being entered
onto the Cayman Islands registry as VR-CAN.     It finally wound up at Marana Air Park, AZ in
the new millennium.  Parts of the nose and cockpit were subsequently used in a simulator.
