VH-EBE (2) Boeing
707-138
(c/n 17700)
VH-EBE was delivered to Qantas in
September 1959 as 'City of Perth'.
It operated as the
official aircraft for the Royal Tour in 1963 and, as such, was the
first Boeing 707 to visit New
Zealand. Greg Banfield's shot above was taken at Mascot in
September 1964. Like several
of
its stablemates it was sold and leased to Standard Airways in
1968. It was re-registered
N793SA. After a stint with Pacific Western as CF-PWW it
returned as N793SA to endure
many
other leases (including two tours with Egyptair) and finally wound back
with Boeing Air-
craft in 1984 as spares for the KC-135 refurbishment program.
