VH-DYR Beech A23A
Musketeer
(c/n M-1036)
VH DYR was registered in
August 1967 . When David Carter saw it on the TAA
ramp at Mascot
in 1969 ,
it was with McLean’s Flying School of Bankstown. It was
still with them on October 10,
1970, when
it came down 500 feet outside the boundary of Bankstown airport,
tearing off its under-
carriage, after its engine lost power on take-off. It was
an accident David witnessed and he watched
as the three occupants scrambled to safety with minor injuries.
–DYR was resurrected but it was
written off
after its undercarriage collapsed on landing at Crookwell, NSW, on
February 1, 1975.
