VH-DOP Cessna 182H Skylane
(c/n 18256234)
Allocated N2334X in the factory,
VH-DOP was dismantled and shipped to Australia in 1965.
It was registered in July and became a demonstrator and company hack
for Masling Aircraft
Sales at
Cootamundra. Masling sold it to a farming
family from Goodooga, NSW, before
it was bought by the Munros, a farming family from Merriwa in the
upper Hunter Valley.
They were to own –DOP for more than 30 years, during which time David
Carter photo-
graphed it
when it landed at Griffith for fuel in 1977.
The treasured Skylane was flipped
on its back when a storm swept through Scone on February 7, 2007.
While not badly
damaged,
–DOP was assessed as an insurance write-off and parted out.
