VH-DHN de Havilland D.H.104 Dove 5
(c/n 04486)
Built at Hatfield
in 1957 this Dove was originally registered to the Netherlands Iran Oil
Trading
Company as PH-ION. It returned to the U.K. in 1963
as G-ASMX and then in 1965 was
sold in Italy as I-ALGO. It
did not remain in Italy long and was brokered by W.S. Shackleton
early
1966, returning briefly to the U.K. as -SMX before being sold to the
Commonwealth Dept
of Health for
Northern Territory Medical Service as VH-DHN. It is seen in NTMS
titling in the
above
photo by Greg Banfield, taken at Bankstown in July 1975, just after it
had been retired from
active duty. The hulk of
-DHN is today stored at the Heathcote Aircraft Museum in rural
Victoria,
as
seen in the shot below by owner of the museum, Richard Winterburn.
