VH-DHN  de Havilland D.H.104 Dove 5                     (c/n  04486)

                                       
                                    

                                           Built at Hatfield in 1957 this Dove was originally registered to the Netherlands Iran Oil Trading
                                           Company as PH-ION.       It returned to the U.K. in 1963 as G-ASMX and then in 1965 was
                                           sold in Italy as I-ALGO.   It did not remain in Italy long and was brokered by W.S. Shackleton
                                           early 1966, returning briefly to the U.K. as -SMX before being sold to the Commonwealth Dept
                                           of Health for Northern Territory Medical Service as VH-DHN.   It is seen in NTMS titling in the
                                           above photo by Greg Banfield, taken at Bankstown in July 1975, just after it had been retired from
                                           active duty.  The hulk of -DHN  is today stored at the Heathcote Aircraft Museum in rural Victoria,
                                           as seen in the shot below by owner of the museum, Richard Winterburn.
