VH-DDT  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth               (c/n  82772)

                                  

                                         Seen above in this photo from the Geoff Goodall collection is VH-DDT at Perth Airport in April
                                         1953 when owned by David Gray and Co Ltd.   It was Perth's first agricultural aircraft, and is
                                         replete with totally appropriate registration!   It is seen during trials of a revised dusting system.
                                         The image below, also via Geoff shows a detail closeup taken at Northam, WA in 1954.  Note
                                         superphosphate bags being handled by eager local schoolboys!  This UK-built Tiger was formerly
                                         R4840, and was sold by RAAF disposals at Cunderdin, WA in December 1946 to the Royal
                                         Aero Club of WA but not civilianized at the time. Aero Service Pty Ltd acquired it and the regis-
                                         tration VH-ASI was allocated in Nov 1950.  This was not taken up, however,  and the aircraft
                                         was never really civlianized until it became VH-DDT for David Gray in April 1951. It was written
                                         off after a crash near Toodyay WA on 10 Feb 1955.
