VH-DDT de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n 82772)
Seen above in this photo
from the Geoff Goodall collection is VH-DDT at Perth Airport in April
1953 when owned by David Gray and Co Ltd. It
was Perth's first agricultural aircraft, and is
replete with totally appropriate registration!
It is seen during trials of a revised dusting system.
The image below, also via Geoff shows a detail
closeup taken at Northam, WA in 1954. Note
superphosphate bags being handled by eager
local schoolboys! This UK-built Tiger was formerly
R4840, and was sold by RAAF
disposals at Cunderdin, WA in December 1946 to the Royal
Aero Club of WA but not civilianized at the
time. Aero Service Pty Ltd acquired it and the regis-
tration VH-ASI was allocated in Nov
1950. This was not taken up, however, and the aircraft
was never really civlianized
until it became VH-DDT for David Gray in April 1951. It was written
off after a crash near Toodyay WA on 10 Feb
1955.
