VH-DAN de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA167)
This was the former VH-BFB, ex A17-166, first civilianized
in July 1949. It was re-registered
VH-DAN a decade
later (in August 1959). It is seen above in this photo from the
Geoff Goodall
collection at
Maylands, Perth in August 1960: It was one of
three Tigers exchanged with Eddie
Connellan at
Alice Springs in return for the Short Scion VH-UTV, held by Doggett
Aviation &
Engineering Co of
Maylands. Doggett added these three Tigers to their
growing WA based
agricultural
fleet and all had their standard livery scheme of yellow fuselage, red
cowlings and
silver wings
with agricultural chemical company "Elders" name on the fuselage
decking, and last
letter of the registration
on the cowling. The fabric covering of the rear
fuselage was removed
to simplify
maintenance (although this appears not to have been done when this shot
was taken).
After surviving
numerous accidents, -DAN was sold to a private owner at Bunbury SA and
re-
registered VH-CKE in September 1964.
