VH-CXV  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth            (c/n  83250)

                                     
                                  
                                        This Tiger is still active (as of April 2011) and interestingly CASA quotes its c/n as T5531 which
                                        was, of course, its old RAF/RAAF serial.   It was originally civilianized in June 1946 as VH-ATD.
                                        In April 1955 it was acquired by the Royal Newcastle Aero Club and became VH-RNL.   Sold
                                        by the club in September 1961 it was issued, for then, the period sequence rego VH-CXV.  This
                                        Tiger does not carry the normal training bright yellow in its warbird guise, but rather carries the dark
                                        green/brown  camouflage finish on the fuselage used in the early days of WW II. .   Greg Banfield's
                                        photo above was taken at Maitland in April 1977, as was his B&W shot below.       It is currently
                                        registered to Leonie Mazumdara of Orange, NSW.  Ian McDonnell saw it in the hangar there (foot
                                        of page) in November 2015.
