VH-CMT  (1)   de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth                  (c/n  DHA212)

                               

                                    This shot of a Tiger, from the John Hopton collection, was taken at RAAF Pearce, WA circa
                                    1950, while the aircraft was visiting from the Royal Aero Club of WA at Maylands.    This was
                                     previously VH-AMT (ex A17-211) with the club, but for obscure reasons DCA decided it
                                     conflicted with radiotelephony codes and in December 1949 it was changed to VH-CMT. 
                                     The repaint can be seen on the upper wing.    It stayed with the club until written off in a landing
                                     crash at Maylands on 22 December 1952, the resultant mess being shown in the image below.
                                     Oddly, DCA had no problem in cheerfully reassigning the "prohibited" VH-AMT rego to another
                                     Tiger (Superspread's VH-SSD) when it was sold in WA in December 1959!
