(c/n 32-343)
David Carter photographed VH-CIA at its base at Maryborough, Queensland
on May 5, 1976.
Operated by Islandair, which would one
day evolve into Qantas subsidiary Sunstate Airlines, the
Cherokee
Six was used to fly tourists to Fraser Island. It was at the Orchid
Beach airstrip on that
island that –CIA crashed on
November 27, 1976 and was written off. It had been on the register
since September 1966.
