VH-CFA(3) de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n 82565)
A nice Bob Neate shot of VH-CFA
at Moorabbin in 1961 while owned by Brookes Aviation
as the first aircraft of their newly established Civil Flying School at
Moorabbin. Geoff Goodall's
photo below was taken later (in May 1963) and shows
the Tiger in the shade of the stand of pine
trees (sadly long since
vanished) at the same venue. VH-CFA was built for
the RAAF as A17-11
and
shipped out to DHA for assembly in 1939.
It later became Instructional Airframe No.1.
When
finally demobbed in 1959
it became VH-RIN, and shortly afterwards, VH-CFA for
Civil.
Flying
School. Three months after Geoff took the lower shot it was
sold, and became VH-DBE,
an
identity it holds today. It
is currently registered
to a Queensland owner.
