VH-BSC DHC-2 Beaver 1
(c/n 1617)
These two photos of
-BSC are from the Danny Tanner collection. Daniel, now in
the same age
bracket as myself (80+) passed on his skills
to his son, and the above shot was taken by David
Tanner at Parafield in
June 1984. Danny's own shot, below, was also at Parafield, some
years
earlier in August
1979. The Beaver was first registered in June of
1966, coming in through the
distributors, Hawker
de Havilland of Australia. It spent many years
with Benders Spreading
Service Pty Ltd of Hobart, Tasmania, but, as
the images show, spent much time on contracts out-
side of Tassie.
Following a crash in 1990 it was restored and went to Walcha Aerial
Services Pty
Ltd of Walcha, NSW.
It crashed at Cooplacurripa
Station 60 Km NW of Taree, NSW on
19 December 1994.
Pilot Benjamin Salter, sadly, was killed.
