VH-BLN Miles M.65 Gemini 1A
(c/n 6468)
Neither of these shots is exactly brilliant.
The hangar shot above was taken by Greg Banfield at
Archerfield in February 1964, although the aircraft had been
(officially) withdrawn from use by
in October
1962. It was painted silver with red cheat line and registration
lettering. The image
below from the
Bob Livingstone collection (via Geoff Goodall) shows the remains at
Archerfield
after it had been
dumped for use as a fire practice carcass (along with the remains of
VH-ALP)
in the mid
1960s. It was finally burned and destroyed around
1967. VH-BLN was previously
G-AJZM and
first registered in Australia in July 1948.
